Case Studies
Shaw Conference Centre
The Shaw Conference Centre’s hourly employees are the heartbeat of this facility, providing the maintenance, housekeeping, banquet service, dish washing, food preparation and security operations necessary to keep its clientele happy, and coming back for more. So, effectively managing the time and labour activities of these employees --- to ensure proper staff coverage for each event and facilitate an accurate and timely payroll --- is critical to the ongoing success of the SCC and the smooth operation of its events.
Home Hardware
Home Hardware branches used to manually collect employee hours and track vacation and absence time, then send paper summaries from facilities across Canada to head office in St. Jacobs, Ontario. Re-keying and balancing this data into Home Hardware’s payroll system required the efforts of four staff at head office, in addition to the payroll personnel at each location. That all changed when they automated with TimeZone.
Staples Business Depot
Tracking the time and labor activities of employees for employees at single store is one thing. Tracking it for 20,000 employees at 300 locations is quite another. But through it all, Staples Business Depot has relied upon TimeZone™ to get the job done.
The Nuance Group
For The Nuance Group’s North America operations, the priority was to distribute the responsibility of managing employees in more than 45 stores right to the store managers and supervisors themselves. They had to be able to review, edit and approve their staffs’ time and attendance data of as well as to create schedules that optimized their labor resources.
Broan-NuTone
Faced with a growing workforce, Broan-NuTone knew their paper-based spreadsheets to balance attendance for payroll and benefits purposes were costing them valuable time, lacked the accuracy of an automated system, and could not ensure compliance with current labor laws and HR policies. They also wanted a system to control access to their building. With ITR, they wishes became reality.
Stoney Nation
Midway between Calgary and Banff live nearly 5000 members of the Stoney Nation native band, supported by a spectrum of governmental services ranging from health care to education to infrastructure, delivered by about 800 staff. For many years, these employees received pay based either on the employee’s word or on traditional time clock stamps; unfortunately, often the time claimed did not always reflect the reality of actual hours worked - until TimeZone was implemented, along with biometric data collectors.
Sunrise Farms
With several divisions and locations on the go, Sunrise Farms’ main challenge was to streamline and standardize the collection of employee time and attendance data and application of pay rules. Their current situation was a medley: various automated solutions, time clocks, and manual sign-in sheets. Data and HR related personnel information was not centralized, and there was significant manual intervention required to gather payroll summaries from each plant, summarize the information, and then transfer data into their payroll software. TimeZone™ came to the rescue, providing a centralized solution to manage their workforce.
